In a surprising turn of events last September, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson made a stunning return to SmackDown alongside Pat McAfee, sparking speculation about a potential WrestleMania 40 appearance. On January 1st, The Great One, surprised fans with a spontaneous appearance on Monday Night Raw.

Following hints of a former WWE Champion’s return, The Rock confronted Jinder Mahal and provocatively asked the audience if he should take the “head of the table” seat. This tease has sparked speculation about a dream match between The Rock and Reigns.

It has also left fans pondering about the implications of The Rock’s return for Cody Rhodes, who is still aiming to conclude his storyline with Roman Reigns. Shedding light on this situation in a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Cody’s brother, Dustin Rhodes, shared his thoughts and feelings.

He said, “I hope Cody’s in the main event spot against Roman,” said Rhodes. “Or it’s going to be The Rock. If it is The Rock, I’m pissed–this is Cody’s time. He is becoming the face of the company, and it’s paying off.” Despite being signed to AEW, Dustin emphasized that he always keeps an eye on WWE.

But I still think it’s Cody’s moment.” Although he still thinks it’s his brother’s time to finish the story, he knows how fans can be.

He made it very clear that he understands fans’ wishes and the business behind having The Rock have a match against Roman Reigns in 2024.
