Sports journalists have to endure a lot of criticism at times. Sometimes it comes from some die-hard fans of an athlete. However, this doesn’t sum up the story as athletes themselves end up calling them out. This is something that happened recently with Dave Meltzer. It appears that the journalist has gotten in between some clashing opinions while giving out his own.

WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray was recently found attending an interview. In the YouTube video, fans can see him talking about the popular sports journalist and his opinion. While talking about him, he also compares his opinions to that of his fellow Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan.

Hulk Hogan’s involvement in the debate

Hollywood Hogan was never directly involved with the debate. However, Ray saw it fit to bring him up as a topic concluder. Dave Meltzer owns a popular news outlet. The Wrestling Observer rates wrestling matches from best to worst while also rating the wrestlers altogether. When the interviewer was talking about how Meltzer’s view of rating is not apt, he also mentioned that he doesn’t consider them at all. In fact, this is not the first time that Meltzer had to face this criticism. Ric Flair, the all-time fan-favorite WWE star, recently disregarded the views that were posted in the Wrestling Observer.

Coming back to the topic of Hogan’s mention, the interviewer was also not sure of the views that Meltzer publishes. He asked Ray what he thinks about the fact that none of his matches were rated 5-star. Although a tag-team match of Bully Ray was the most sold PPV event, Meltzer still didn’t consider it under the 5-star category. “If Hulk Hogan wants to give out star ratings, I’ll start to listen,” said the legendary tag team wrestler.

Why doesn’t Hulk Hogan consider Ray’s request?

The Hall of Famer doesn’t seem to be interested in the play that rating involves. The judgment is often subjective, and the judge is criticized for the same. Another reason could be what the 51-year-old listed further on in his sentence: “you can’t pay your mortgage with a star rating.” So, perhaps, just like The Terminator, Hollywood Hogan also considers star rating useless and sees no point in the judgment.
