There is an old adage in pro wrestling that has proven itself time and again, ‘Never Say Never’. If any phrase defined the world of wrestling more accurately, it is this. Wrestlers who vowed to never walk back into a company bury the hatchet and return for a gig. Over the years, WWE has seen many wrestlers who left on bitter terms return for a final farewell.
Now the latest rumors talk about an unlikely return of a polarizing figure to the company.

Nobody imagined that they would see Bret Hart in a WWE ring after what happened at Survivor Series and the infamous Montreal Screwjob. However, not only did he return, but competed in a match at WrestleMania 26 against Vince McMahon himself. For years, The Ultimate Warrior had a fractured relationship with WWE that was public knowledge, but he came back to the WWE and the company inducted him into the Hall of Fame.
Recently, a report came out that Triple H, WWE’s Head of Creative and Chief Content Officer, may be open to a CM Punk return. As the news broke out, the fans on social media just couldn’t keep calm.
Fans go wild as CM Punk’s WWE return rumors spread
CM Punk left WWE unceremoniously in 2014 after the Royal Rumble pay-per-view. His sudden departure was shocking and left the wrestling world stunned. The reason for Punk’s departure was reported to be unhappiness over his booking. Afterward, Punk didn’t feature in a wrestling ring for the next seven years.
The ‘Second City Saint’ emerged from his pro wrestling hiatus when he signed for All Elite Wrestling in 2021. He had a memorable feud with young AEW talent MJF before capturing the company’s top prize at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view earlier this year. But things have turned sour.
After the All-Out pay-per-view in September, Punk went on a tirade against some AEW talents which then resulted in a backstage scuffle. AEW has since placed those involved under suspension, including Punk, who hasn’t appeared on AEW TV since. And after reports of AEW looking to buy-out CM Punk’s contract, rumors are now swirling that the WWE may be open to welcoming back the ‘Straight Edge Superstar’.

I’m not a tribalist I like both shows but man I can’t imagine the pop if punk shows up in the rumble. HHH is a businessman over everything

Roman Reigns v CM Punk would be the biggest rivalry in pro wrestling. Period.

Indeed, since Triple H took charge of things in WWE after Vince McMahon’s retirement, a lot of superstars have made their return to the company. But if CM Punk does end up in WWE once again, it will be the biggest of them all.
