CM Punk took to his Instagram account to share a story and exposed some of the “lies” that had been built up around him. In his story, he talks about his first match against the three-time AEW World Champion after he broke his foot in June 2022. In the bout, Moxley beat Punk to win the AEW Championship.

He began by stating he had broken his foot so the doctors had not cleared him to wrestle yet, but Tony Khan coerced him to fight on Aug. 24, 2022, at AEW Dynamite. Therefore, despite having an injured foot, he wrestled at the event.

Punk added Moxley wanted his match against him to be like the Rocky III movie style and, he refused to lose the match to him. This seemed ‘laughable’ to Punk, but since that is what Tony Khan also wanted, he went along with the idea.

At the end of his story, he called Dave Meltzer, “a liar” and Chris Jericho “a liar and a stooge.” He also added that he will “never put a company above” his health again. Punk has now deleted the story, but a screenshot of his story has found a way to the internet.

After fans found out about it, they went to Twitter to share their views.

Some fans are in support of Punk.

Why Punk lashed out on his Instagram story?

CM Punk’s Instagram story was in response to Dave Meltzer’s statement on the “Figure 4 Weekly” message board. In his statement, Meltzer wrote about why Punk vs Moxley lacked a buildup story and why their bout was short-lived.

Meltzer stated that at first, the ‘Second City Saint’ was okay with how AEW had decided to progress with the match. But then he refused the idea. It was then Tony Khan who gave his ultimate decision, so the match happened how it happened. He added that Punk willingly wrestled Moxley in the match and no one forced him to do so.

This was the statement that led the retired MMA star to react on his Instagram account. Moxley, Khan, Meltzer, and Jericho are the top names in AEW so Punk going after them is indeed a headline making story.
