“I Would Love One Day”: Dwayne Johnson Wants Marvel and DCEU to Take a Page Out of Billionaire Vince McMahon’s Playbook

It wouldn’t be incorrect to argue that Dwayne Johnson has adopted many of his character traits from the WWE and that he is now the most electrifying character in all of Hollywood. The Rock is now working on Black Adam, a film that his millions of fans have been anticipating for a very long time. With this, he will start his live-action movie journey in DC.

As the film’s release date approaches, DJ has participated in several media interviews. And in one of those interviews, he makes a specific wish for DC and Marvel, something that Vince McMahon notably accomplished in the past.

Dwayne Johnson wants DC and Marvel to replicate what the wrestling industry has done in the past

During the Black Adam Red Carpet, Johnson spoke with Myles Galloway, about the historic rivalry between the WWE and the WCW. Interestingly, Johnson opined that the MCU and DC Universe may be seeing a similar dynamic. The Rock has already expressed his desire to combine the DC and Marvel Universe on several occasions, and he has now done so once again, saying that it should be done in the same way that WCW and WWE did it.

In his words, “Now I would love one day for the two brands to converge like we did in wrestling, because that’s how we think. Because ultimately what will always guide my hand and will always be my NorthStar is taking care of the fans. So the fans to me they speak loudly enough because I’m all about listening to the fans with what we deliver then we should work towards that.”

The two biggest companies in the comic universes are DC and Marvel, just like WWE, and WCW. For those who are unawar, McMahon purchased WCW and combined it with WWE following a fierce battle between the two organizations. This proved to be the greatest move in sports history. Likewise, considering that DC and Marvel each have distinct and fervent core fan communities that frequently engage in quarrels to defend them. So if they would join forces, it would be one of the most significant events in history.

Why are there frequent verbal spats between DCEU and MCU fans?

Perhaps one thing seems certain, when a character strikes a chord with them strongly, fans frequently form a para-social attachment with the characters. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that fans now defend para-social ties with characters as they have grown through time. However, given that DJ wants to combine the two universes, it will be fascinating to watch how things play out in the future and that also resolves the conflict.
