Edge is one of the most popular WWE superstars of all time. The Rated-R superstar has kept the fans entertained over the years. However, back in 2011, Edge announced his retirement from wrestling after sustaining a life-threatening neck injury.

Nine years later, Edge would make his comeback to WWE at the 2020 Royal Rumble. While Edge had hesitantly announced his retirement, a former stablemate of his is eager to announce his retirement from wrestling after one final match.

Back in the late 90s, Edge found himself and Christian getting aligned with the vampire-gimmicked Gangrel. The trio was part of the scary stable, Brood. The stable was active from 1998 to 1999 and was a villainous one led by Gangrel.

Recently, the former leader of Brood expressed his desire to retire from wrestling but not without a final match with The Rated-R superstar, Edge. Speaking on K&S WrestleFest virtual signing, the 54-year-old claimed about his retirement but did not reveal the exact date for it. However, he mentioned having one last match against Edge in WWE.

What did Gangrel claim about his retirement and match with Edge?

It is often a sad day for a wrestler, when they finally hangup their boots and bring an end to their legacy. However, for Gangrel it seemed something else.

He claimed, “I think I would like to do one more match with Edge. That would be cool.” He would also further state that he started his career as Gangrel in WWE, and would like to finish it there as well. Gangrel is way past his prime now, and it seems unlikely that he would return to WWE to fight against Edge.

However, this is only a desire of his, and fans can only wish for it.

What is next for Edge at WrestleMania 39?

Edge and Beth Phoenix defeated the duo of Finn Balor, and Rhea Ripley at Elimination Chamber 2023. However, on the following episode of WWE RAW, Finn Balor would interfere during Edge’s match against Theory and give him the beating of his lifetime.

Fans are now expecting Demon Balor to go off against Brood Edge at WrestleMania 39, where both of them are expected to bring out their inner dark side. Demon Balor is one of the most protected gimmicks in WWE, and it is unlikely that he would lose against Edge at WrestleMania 39.
