“I Wasn’t Hoping”: WCW Legend Reveals Why Hulk Hogan Dropped Weight Despite Being in Peak Physique

In professional wrestling entertainment, Hulk Hogan is perhaps the best to ever step foot. During his time competing in the WWE and WCW, The Man in Red and Yellow was extremely famous. The enormous body that Hulkster had amassed over the years helped him gain popularity in various organizations and around the world. He was over 300 pounds at his peak, and people were still in awe of his physique.

WCW legend Eric Bischoff recently weighed in on Hogan’s physique, saying he was better when he got much leaner. During the same interview, he shed some insight on what led Hogan to cut back on weights in the latter stages of his career.

On a recent episode of 83 Weeks, Bischoff addressed the topic of the Hulkster’s drastically altered body during the steroids phase. For those who don’t know, Hogan’s weight range during his time in the WWE in the 1980s was 300–310 pounds. But later, in 1993, during his final several months with WWE and the beginning of his time with WCW, he dropped to a weight of 275.

What led Hulk Hogan to lose weight?

As per Bischoff, he looked better when he cut some pounds. In his words; “Personally, I thought Hulk was better in 94 than he did in 92. I think that big, 300+ pound Hulk Hogan on camera didn’t come across as well as a 265 or 270-pound Hogan because he leaned out and he had a better definition.”

“And I didn’t think, I thought as far as weight was perfect, to be honest. I wouldn’t (have) wanted him any bigger. The camera already makes you bigger. He’s already a big dude. I wasn’t hoping that he was gonna pack on 25 more pounds.”

When Hogan weighed more than 300 pounds, he seemed to be much bigger than normal on camera. According to the former WWE executive, his appearance on camera wasn’t as spectacular when he weighed over 300 pounds. Hogan must have realized that. Also, as he was about to move into WCW, Bischoff might have told him to cut down his weight a bit.

Nevertheless, Hogan has always had a physique that many prominent individuals, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, still have great regard for.
