The wrestling world has provided the mainstream with several legends whom people admire even after their retirement, from the sport. But it’s not only fans who praise and follow the path of these wrestling icons, they themselves take notes and try to learn from each other. Cody Rhodes recently revealed an example of this when he talked about John Cena and the teachings he had from him.

The fans definitely know Rhodes and Cena to be generous personalities. Similar to all those fans who love Rhodes’ theme song, Cena was also among them. Even once he was found singing Stardust’s Smokes and Mirror theme song while walking around backstage. Rhodes opened up about the teachings he imbued from the WWE legend.

During his appearance in The MMA Hour, the Men’s Royal Rumble winner of 2023 spoke his heart out. He recalled the time when he learned of a profound way of handling things from The Face of the WWE.

Cody said, “When I was driving him around before he became a bus guy and he was just talking and I was writing everything down in my mind and just so sincere and real and even when they get a rowdy crowd. He didn’t let it him like he didn’t panic him. That’s the number one thing I say before I ever go out, don’t panic.

The idea of not panicking which the 37-year-old learned from Cena, is something the Royal Rumble winner appreciates the Champ for his ideology. He also continued by saying that they didn’t realize how good of a wrestler and human they had. However, this wasn’t the only time Rhodes praised The People’s Champion and spoke highly of him.

Cody Rhodes thinks of John Cena as a role model

While speaking with Robbie Fox in My Mom’s basement, Cody described John as his ultimate role model. He continued by mentioning his initial reactions to acknowledging what Cena was doing. He said, “I’m so blown away by how he’s doing and what he’s doing.” However, he also feels that whoever tries to replicate The Prototype, the person would need to do it in their own way.

It might be surprising at times to witness a wrestler praising his fellow fighter. However, listening to what Rhodes had to say about Cena clearly shows his admiration for him.
