“I Was Watching Her Face” – Cody Rhodes Disclosed Her Mother’s Wish to Fight a Popular Champion Backstage After Royal Rumble

The WWE Royal Rumble of 2023 came with some surprises and a massive win for Cody Rhodes. During the premium live event, Rhodes’ mother was present in the arena. However, before celebrating her son’s victory, she was eager to fight a WWE star backstage. The reason for her aggression comes from the major event itself. 

The American Nightmare has almost waited for half a decade to feel this moment of being the champion, surpassing the other twenty-nine WWE stars. However, it’s better late than never. The 37-year-old won the Men’s Royal Rumble match by eventually eliminating the WWE Intercontinental Champion. This wasn’t like any other elimination but a breathtaking one, as Gunther set a record by staying over an hour in the ring. However, he was pulled back from winning the match by the former TNT Champion. But the feelings of Mrs. Rhodes were something different. 

The men’s Royal Rumble winner opened up about her mother’s reaction 

While speaking with Robi Fox on ‘My Mom’s Basement, Rhodes shared about her mother’s reaction during his Rumble match. He then disclosed that she wanted to fight with the five-time world champion backstage. 

Cody said, ““My Mom, I was watching her face. [During the match, did you see her?] I saw her, and she just was [shocked] because she looked at him[Gunther] when he was backstage and she looked at him when he was backstage too, like she wanted to fight him. Because every chop [he put that peck to work] God,”

Whatever the situation was during the Rumble, eventually the result came in favor of Cody. His intention of winning the WWE title is quite clear for that to happen. However, his opponent is still unknown as The Tribal Chief will be defending his title against Sami Zayn at Elimination Chamber.

Cody Rhodes now has options for WrestleMania 39

In one interview, The Prince of Pro Wrestling was asked to name who his preferred opponent would be. To this, Cody disclosed that he doesn’t have any such preference. But he also mentioned that no one would like to bet against Roman Reigns, but the current possibilities are showing that a lot of odds are in the favor of Zayn. 

Lastly, Rhodes is just pleased to know that there are options this time. However, fighting any one of them would be a completely different experience for the Royal Rumble winner.
