Mickie James is a name that always makes the conversation whenever we talk about the greatest women’s superstars in WWE history. After the meteoric popularity of Trish Stratus and Lita, WWE needed to make newer female stars. And Mickie James took this opportunity and cashed in on it big-time!

During her recent appearance on The CLS Experience with Craig Siegel, Mickie James talked about the first-time she met Vince McMahon. She revealed she wrote down the character idea she had and shared it with WWE. However, Michael Hayes told her to go into the Chairman’s office and tell him she came up with it.

How Mickie James pitched her infamous storyline with Trish Stratus to Vince McMahon

Mickie said, “I pitched it, and I remember walking into Vince McMahon’s office with this idea and I go, ‘I heard you read my idea, and you liked it.'” She continued, “Michael Hayes is the one who said, ‘You need to walk into Vince’s office, you need to tell him that you wrote that. You need to tell him that nobody can play it but you,’ and I’m like, ‘Oh God.'”

James revealed she was still honing her skills in WWE’s developmental territory at the time, OVW. She drove all the way from Louisville to Columbus, OH, to meet Mr. McMahon. She details the moments leading up to the meet as very scary, and she even doubted her confidence.

Detailing her actual meet with him, she said, “He has this aura about him. He’s so powerful and so intimidating but yet so genuine and real. He’s always been kind and genuine to me and I was terrified for my life.”

Mickie James somehow let Vince McMahon know that she is the one behind the character. “He just looked at me and he’s just like, ‘Wow, you got guts.’ Yeah, I was like, ‘Thanks?’ I was like I don’t know what to say.”


Mickie James revealed she didn’t hear from anyone in WWE after her meeting with McMahon. However, they called her up after a few months and shared they were going ahead with her idea. The best part? With her!
