In WrestleMania 33, the Undertaker took on Roman Reigns, which most fans deemed to be a dream match. Roman Reigns ended up pinning the Phenom for a win, but Undertaker recalls his performance from the entire match as ‘disgusting.’
Undertaker held a legendary streak in WrestleMania; he was unbeaten for 21 years on the grandest stage of them all. It was on WrestleMania 30 that Brock Lesnar ended the streak, in what many thought would be the end of Taker’s career.
That was not the case as Undertaker continued his career, making many more appearances, even in WrestleMania. He was no longer in top form. Age and injuries were slowing him down but he still made an impact; entertaining fans left and right.

His match with Roman Reigns was WWE’s attempt to push Reigns even further. Defeating the deadman would give Reigns an edge over other superstars in the roster, and that’s exactly what Vince McMahon aimed for.

In his recent interview with ESPN for his documentary titled “Undertaker: The Last Ride,” Taker opened up on his thoughts about the match. He said, “That was the first time that I watched that match back. I was so disgusted with it that I didn’t want to watch it back.”
After the match, fans saw Undertaker leave his hat, suggesting that this might be the point of his retirement, but rewatching the game made him rethink. He did not want the WWE universe to remember him going out like that.
“As I got older… I know when I’m out there, and I’m moving slow. I know when my limp is more prominent than it may be. Or when I’m behind in a spot. I just know now. I’m battling with it. I was so disappointed for Roman.”, Taker said.

Reigns surely went on for more prominent stints, but it is highly doubted if he’d be known for pinning the Phenom in the long run. Undertaker still performs in top form, having made yet another appearance this year against AJ styles.
Undertaker can’t pull off great matches as he did once, but he can still pull off a convincing performance. His match with Reigns will not be remembered for Taker’s stellar performance for sure, but that does not kill the legendary status he withholds.
