Kenny King, known for his character work and in-ring skills, was a popular wrestler in TNA. He won the TNA X-Division Champion and ROH World Television Champion during his tenure at TNA. Although he hinted at joining WWE earlier, he has dropped the idea now.

While talking to the host Bryan Asbury, Kenny King said, “There’s been meetings about me, and I’m too old, so that’s fine. I feel like that’s kind of insane because everybody knows that pro wrestlers only hit their prime and get better at a certain age.

King revealed that there were discussions about him in the WWE but the idea to call him up was later dropped due to age issues. Though he is dejected by the reason, he cites that pro-wrestlers hit their prime and get better at a certain age. He isn’t wrong as Stone Cold only won his first world championship at 38 and AJ Styles too.

He gave the example of former TNA superstar LA Knight to strengthen his argument and draw an analogy. King said that LA Knight jumped the ship in time when he joined WWE in 2021, the same time when King was expected to join WWE.

Kenny King further said, “LA Knight and I were supposed to go in at the same time. I was at that time making way too much money at Ring of Honor to want to go and sign a developmental contract. But it worked out for him.”

LA Knight finds success in WWE despite his old age

LA Knight aka Eli Drake was once Impact World Champion and left Impact in 2019 to pursue a career outside TNA before joining WWE in a developmental role. Despite finding success as LA Knight in NXT, he faced difficulties after being drafted to the main roster after being cast as zany manager of sorts.

Knight eventually reverted to his original gimmick and became a sensation in a matter of months. WWE could not deny his organic rise to the top of the card. In the end, they gave him the mega push that Knight rightly deserved despite his age. As King aptly said in his interview, “One man’s old guy is another guy’s superstar.
