Despite being one of the top names in the wrestling world, Hulk Hogan has had a fair share of trouble as well. He found himself at the receiving end of being called a steroid abuser in the early 90s and Vince McMahon was fighting a lawsuit regarding it. The early 1990s saw WWE getting involved in the steroids scandal, and Hogan become a major part of it. However, in 1991, he appeared on The Arsenio Hall Show and reveal his approach and stance on taking or using steroids.

Hogan would deny using the substance and clarify how hard he has worked to reach the stage where he is now. He would show his childhood photos and compare them with his current self to see the progression he has achieved over the past 20+ years.

Speaking to Arsenio Hall, Hogan would proudly deny using steroids to achieve his look. However, much later, he had agreed to using them in the past, although unknowingly.

What did Hulk Hogan say about steroids at the Arsenio Hall show in 1991?

The Hulkster would appear on national television to clear his side amidst steroid abuse allegations. He declared his stance on steroid usage and proudly denied using the substance to reach his then-peak physique and figure.

He said, ” I was 196 pounds when I was 10. When I graduated from high school I was 300 pounds and right now I am about 295. So, basically I was insulted when basically the inferences of the speculation said, ‘well all you just take a pill or shot to the butt every day to get to look like Hulk Hogan.'”

Hogan further claimed how hard he had worked to reach this stage. And said, ” I have trained 20 years. I am 38, 37, I will be 38 in a couple of months. I have trained 20 years, two hours a day to look like I do.”

Hogan himself had later admitted to using it without his knowledge. Nevertheless, Hogan is one of the greatest names in the wrestling industry and has created several records on his way to the top, and remains a legend due to his in-ring exploits. The steroid scandal did hit Hogan’s reputation, but he was able to recover from it and create more pro wrestling history in the later years of his career.
