“I Was Always Guiding Him”: Dany Garcia Once Reflected on Her ‘Background’ Role in Dwayne Johnson’s Life-Changing Hollywood Decision

The fans of Dwayne Johnson would know the unique relationship he shares with his ex-wife Dany Garcia. Both of them might not be together as couples, but surely share a strong bond over professional work. This was purely reflected when Garcia left Wall Street to accompany Johnson in his career in Hollywood.  Currently, The Rock stands on the podium after Jerry Sinfield and Tyler Perry as the richest actor in the world. However, this wasn’t the scenario when the actor was first acquainted with Hollywood. He was initially taken aback by the requirements of the industry, which demanded him to make numerous changes to his personality. 

DJ was popularly known for some of the distinct factors, like his massive body and the ring name. It was these unique elements that separated him from the rest. But this wasn’t what Hollywood wanted, they wanted him to be somebody different. And that’s when Dany came to resume Johnson.

The Rock’s ex-wife has always been concerned about his career. Not only did she support him all this while, but also stood by him during his lowest times. Even having a successful career on Wall Street, she didn’t think twice before leaving her job to back up Johnson being her manager. 

The People’s Champion had to face many challenges being a half-black, half-Samoan, 6 foot 4, and 275-pound pro wrestler. No one in Hollywood knew what to do with him and thus suggested him several changes. For example, he was asked to lose weight, stop working out and drop his ring name. However, he wasn’t ready for any of it. The Rock said, “I made a choice, and the choice was, I wasn’t gonna conform to Hollywood. Hollywood was gonna conform to me.”

In order to accomplish this, the actor decided to fire his previous team, and Garcia took over as his manager. She has been with him since the 50-year-old played football at the University of Miami to wrestling in the WWE, and eventually emerged in films.

“I was always in the background guiding him, giving counsel, and adding a business point of view to all the decisions,” Garcia said.

Now, one can see how Garcia’s decision turned out as DJ is currently at the peak of his acting career. He is not only one of the richest actors in the world, but also a popular name in Hollywood. Johnson is also featured as the highest-paid actor in the Forbes list of highest-paid entertainers. 

The $800 million worth superstar is also one of the richest celebrities on Instagram earning USD 1,713,000 per post. He has even surpassed Beyonce, and NBA legends LeBron James and Stephen Curry in Instagram earnings.

The Rock’s journey till here after facing multiple challenges is inspiring to all. The partnership of Garcia and Johnson has resulted well and hopefully goes like this forever.
