Over the years, pro-wrestling wrestling mogul Vince McMahon has earned the reputation of being a tough boss. Even though others have had their moments of triumphs over him, McMahon mostly had the last laugh by getting back at them. Recently, a WWE legend shared a story that added further credibility to Vince McMahon’s stature.
The star is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. The 54-year-old worked closely with McMahon and witnessed the vengeful nature of his former boss from close quarters. Unfortunately, he was at the receiving end of one of those moments

Angle signed with the WWE in 1998. He was already a reputed fighter, thanks to his podium finish at the Atlanta Olympic games in 1996. Angle clinched the gold, thus proving his worth as a wrestler. Quite understandably, he was quick to learn the tricks of the trade in pro wrestling and had a meteoric rise in Vince McMahon’s promotion.
By the mid-2000s Angle was already a top guy in the WWE, but McMahon decided to treat him differently than other colleagues who were at the same level. The former WWE Champion spoke about it on the latest episode of his The Kurt Angle Show podcast.
When the co-host asked him why Angle was attacked and locked in a hold by former WWE superstar Tazz during the ECW One Night Stand in 2005, despite being the top guy, the former wrestler said he deserved it. “At this point in my career, I was a real pain in the a**,” Kurt Angle said.
“I kept lashing out. Saying, ‘Why are you guys doing this? You need to change things. I need something better than this’. And I was always demanding everything, and I think the company said ‘You know what, we need to put this guy in his place’ and that’s what they did,” he added.
“I was a real a**h*le,” he said. “So, it was them teaching me a lesson basically because I was one of the top guys in the company, they don’t normally do that to top guys in the company. But they had to do that to me at this point in time,” Angle added.
Meanwhile, Angle had once revealed how McMahon made three superstars pay for their earlier conduct.
Vince McMahon had the last laugh over Hulk Hogan and his stable
Imagine you are Hulk Hogan, one of the biggest pro wrestlers of all time and Vince McMahon still doesn’t think twice about making you pay for a mistake. Well, that is exactly what happened to The Immortal One in the early 2000s. And not just Hogan, his New World Order mates- Scott Hall and Kevin Nash– were also taken for an all-nighter.
Angle revealed the story in 2021, almost two decades after it took place. The nWo members left McMahon high and dry by moving to rival promotion WCW. When the legendary faction came back to WWE in 2001, they worked with McMahon for a taping. Due to creative differences, the team ended up working all night.
