Not every WWE Superstar is fortunate enough to rise above the rest of the roster and make a name for themselves. Shinsuke Nakamura tried his best to do it and somewhat succeeded.
He is a very popular wrestler among the fans and has entertaining matches whenever he is in the ring. Even after that, it is really sad to see such a talented performer being under-used in WWE. However, he did remarkably well during his time with the ‘New Japan Pro Wrestling’.

In a recent episode with Renée Paquette on her show Oral Sessions, Shinsuke Nakamura was invited over as a guest. They spoke on many topics, one of which included Shinsuke Nakamura’s final opponent in his retirement match. Nakamura said,
“I wanna wrestle Tanahashi again. Also, I wanna wrestle a rising star, like a new guy. I don’t know yet.” (H/t Wrestle Inc. for the transcription)
The wrestler mentioned by Shinsuke is his former IWGP Tag Team partner, “The Ace” Hiroshi Tanahashi. He also stated that he wants to fight a new kid on the block, a rising star, someone he doesn’t even know yet. A peculiar choice for a retirement match, one could say.
Shinsuke’s unparalleled record in New Japan Pro Wrestling
Speaking with Renee, ‘The Black Savior’ revealed that he was the youngest ever winner of the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in 2003 at the age of 23. The first title run was not what he had pictured, specifically with the stern responses from his coworkers backstage. He explained,
“Actually, I didn’t have no experience. I just needed to do what they wanted…I felt I didn’t have any friends in the company”
Shinsuke is a talented wrestler and his ability to gel and have good chemistry with any wrestler is clear proof of that. He has fought with the likes of John Cena to AJ Styles, cementing his position as one of the most versatile wrestlers in WWE.
