In the recent episode of The Dan LeBatard Show podcast, Charlotte Flair remembered her brother Reid Flair. Moreover, The Queen recalled joining professional wrestling in which she had no interest at the time so she can motivate her brother.

The 14-time Women’s Champion said, “Well, he really had a bad drug addiction and I thought if I somewhat started what he wanted to that it would get him motivated almost like jealous in a way like, ‘My sister’s doing this I got to do it too. I’ve to be better, I’ve to stay on the right course.”

She added, “So when I started, he still didn’t pass the test and then he went off to Japan and started wrestling in Japan.”

She mentions in the same podcast how Reid was adamant to become the next Ric Flair. Unfortunately, passed away at the age of 25 years old in his bed at a Residence Inn in the South Park neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Weeks later, his autopsy report would show there were traces of drugs in his system.

Charlotte Flair credits her brother Reid Flair for her current WWE career

The Queen laced her boots to motivate her brother to have a better lifestyle. In that process, she fell in love with the business and is one of the most celebrated WWE superstars today. However, she credits her brother with everything she has today in wrestling. Flair said, “They brought him home from Japan to see me at WrestleMania Access almost a year after I signed. He passed away that night when they brought him home to see me wrestle for the first time.”

She added, “So ever since I just think it’s gonna be that first time he sees me….well not as much, not when I first started. But to this day I’ll always think I get to do this because of him and I’m so grateful.”
