“I Still Do Believe That” – Matt Hardy Explains How Losing Their Mother at a Young Age Added Up to Jeff Hardy’s Issues While Growing Up

One of the world’s largest wrestling promotions has helped these siblings etch their name into wrestling folklore. From tag teams to feuds, WWE has used the bond of the siblings several times. However, one pair of siblings always stood out from the crowd. The enigmatic duo of Jeff and Matt Hardy always held a special place in the fan’s hearts.

When the duo returned at WrestleMania 33, the crowd erupted and cheered their hearts out. However, Matt Hardy would leave WWE to join AEW later, while Jeff Hardy would again fall victim to his inner demons.

Last year, WWE would suspend Jeff Hardy due to his addiction issues. Additionally, he then left the Stamford-based company to join AEW as well. However, a few months earlier, Hardy would again find himself in trouble with the law. Nevertheless, he even had his driving license canceled, and had a close shave with serving a jail sentence.

Recently, his older brother, Matt Hardy, in his podcast detailed their traumatic childhood, and what possibly gave rise to his younger brother’s inner demons. He spoke about their issues growing up, and how they all added together to become a bigger trouble for the Enigmatic Charisma.

What did Matt Hardy say about Jeff Hardy’s issues growing up?

Matt and Jeff Hardy were raised by their father after they lost their mother at a young age. He claimed that the duo wasn’t emotionally stable, and neither understood women as they missed the upbringing brought about by a maternal figure.

He would claim that Jeff Hardy would lift the position of their mother to that of a higher being after losing her at the tender age of nine. Matt Hardy said, “Jeff would just say like, ‘ I think my mom is my god’. He would lift her up on this pedestal where she is the special being in his life and is still with him. And I still do believe that.”

The 48-year-old would further claim, “I think a lot of that was just the trauma of not understanding why you lost a mom when you are so young. Why not get to know her? ”

Losing a parent at a young age is a traumatic thing, and Jeff Hardy underwent that. However, he would get a hold of himself and make his own career. And always had his brother by his side.
