Several recent promos at WWE have generated a range of reactions from the WWE Universe. One faction is very happy and sees it as the return of the classic Attitude Era. However, another faction is worried that several kids watch WWE and see the Superstars as their idols. Particularly big stars like Dwayne Johnson and CM Punk.

The reason for the beginning of the debate was a promo where ‘The Rock’ swore on camera. Johnson has sweared while speaking on previous occasions. The WWE locker room received a memo instructing them to mind their language as a result of this. Interestingly, however, CM Punk seemed to be taking credit for the reason why swearing and the use of explicit words began in WWE.

WWE Superstar CM Punk is one of the most charismatic as well as one of the most unhesitating speakers in WWE. Each time he grabs the mic, ‘The Best in the World’ is renowned for keeping it real with the audience. He recently showcased more of this personality while speaking to journalist-cum-analyst Ariel Helwani on the MMA Hour podcast.

Speaking about the culture of swearing, and F-bombs in particular, CM Punk said, “It’s about making money… I’m more offended at insider wrestling terms being bantered about than I am about F-bombs.” He continued saying, I’m not the FCC. I’m not on the board of directors, so I don’t f****ng care if somebody swears.” While he instantly made his opinion with an F-bomb of his own, he later declared himself the pioneer for it in WWE.

CM Punk noted, “I feel like I started all that because I remember cutting a promo on Rock on the stage and he was in the ring, and I was just like, cool, we’re all going to swear. You know, blah, blah, blah. So I see both sides now. You can’t argue that he is this big. So, does he get to break the rules? F**king absolutely. Guess what? So do I.” While Punk emphasized he gets more leeway, he also noted that he thinks everyone should get a chance to do it.

CM Punk said that he doesn’t try to get ahead of himself and use his immunity to do anything malicious. He also said that he doesn’t try relying on things that someone lower on the card cannot. But, he said that if a low or mid-card wrestler does swear on camera, they need to be as good as Dwayne Johnson.

Otherwise, everything looks in bad taste. Thus, while CM Punk established himself as a trendsetter, he admired Johnson for being the standard for it. Interestingly, the Straight-Edge pro wrestler may give a lesson to everyone at WrestleMania XL.
