“I Owe a Lot to This Woman”: Bayley Pens Down a Powerful Note for Her Teacher & Ex-divas Champion

Two times WWE Champion and a Grand Slam Champion Bayley is one of the top-level performers in the Women’s Division. The performer, who was once popular for her Hugger persona, is now working as the leader of the Heel faction, ‘Damage Control.’ On 22nd August, she took to X to share a gratitude-filled message for a former WWE Divas Champion.

Though WWE wrestlers are expected to be in Kayfabe all the time, she went out of her storyline and shared a positive post on X. The post was related to her match against former WWE Diva’s Champion, a match that elevated Bayley to the main event scene in the NXT.

Bayley breaks kayfabe on X to pay tribute to a former Diva

Former WWE Champion Bayley paid tribute to former WWE Superstar and Champion AJ Lee through X. On the occasion that marked 10 years of the remarkable match in Bayley’s career, it was shared by the ‘On This Day in WWE’ account.

The original post read:

Would love to see a rematch now @itsBayleyWWE @TheAJMendez”

The clip shows a young Bayley, who was known for her happy and girl-next-door gimmick up against more confident AJ Lee. Bayley starts with a proposal for a hug before fighting but is quickly denied by AJ Lee. Bayley re-shared the post from her official X account on 22nd August.

“I owe a lot to this match and to this woman. My confidence as a person/performer and evolution as a character wouldn’t have been as high without @TheAJMendez”

Bayley credits AJ Lee for the success she has had at WWE and as a performer. She had a successful gimmick as a babyface but has entertained the crowd even more with her heel persona, thus showing depth in her performance. But, Bayley can’t do much more than that as AJ Lee retired early in April 2015.

Will AJ Lee be back to WWE for a re-match?

As per AJ Lee, her sudden retirement was due to the growing list of injuries she incurred during her short career. But many believe that her husband, CM Punk’s relationship with WWE, might have played its role as they left around the same time.

Recently, Lee made headlines after displaying a shredded body transformation at the age of 36. Fans speculated that she might be coming back to the squared circle through AEW or WWE, but those claims were quickly shut down by CM Punk.

Regardless of who Bayley is on the screen, her positive energy radiates through her persona. It is a blessing for fans to see Bayley acknowledge another superstar who has helped elevate the Women’s division to its current status.
