The wrestling world was set ablaze by the sudden debut of Tommy End, formerly known as Aleister Black. He debuted in AEW with a new gimmick and renamed himself, Malakai Black. With so many wrestling gurus giving their opinion on it, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T did the same.

During a recent episode of the “Hall of Fame” podcast, King Booker chimed in on Black and his time in WWE. He said,
“For me, I never looked at Malakai, excuse me, Aleister in WWE. I never really looked at him as — just like to say maybe a regular human being. It seemed like he was like this Tong Po like fighter and that’s the only thing that he did was fight. I never got to see any character outside of Aleister Black others other than the black mask.
It’s the only thing that people talked about with Aleister Black. And the way he entered, you know, from the coffin-like deal and then walk to the ring. But everything was dark with Aleister Black. So I never really understood what it was.”
Booker T feels like Black needs to portray a more humane character as opposed to something mythological.

Is Booker T right about Malakai Black?
The fans feel that it’s not Black’s fault for not being able to connect with the audience. WWE’s habit of misusing its talent is nothing new and Tommy End was just another statistic about the same. WWE might have not realized his potential or just couldn’t use him in a better-suited way. There is no doubt in our minds that Black gave his all and then some for the fans.
He went above and beyond trying to put his gimmick over with the fans. To his credit, he succeeded as well. This is why the fans were devastated when WWE released him from the company.
