In an interview on the Hall Of Fame Podcast, WWE legend Booker T commented on one of his biggest matches in the WWE against Triple H that was expected to make him a star, but ended up in the downfall of his WWE career.
Booker T faced Triple H in a huge match at WrestleMania XIX. Being the underdog, Booker was the favorite to win.
The fans were at his side and cheering him on in the ring. Winning this match would put Booker on the path to legendary success.

However, it was decided that he would lose against “The Game” much to the grave disappointment of the fans.
“I tell people all the time man. I don’t lose sleep over it or anything like that. It’s not something that I go to be wishing, ‘Man Wrestlemania 19, that night, I wish I had it back” or anything like that but it was the night that literally could’ve changed my life in so many different ways,” admits Booker.
After joining WWE from WCW, Booker seemed to be on the high road. Sadly, his performance was under heavy fire from critics. Booker T feels that this would be the perfect opportunity for him to silence all the haters.
“It could’ve shut up all of the Critics and the naysayers who say it never happened, it would never happen and whatnot,” says Booker. “It was a built-in story there as well you know. So many people, even office guys said, ’Man book, you should have won that night man, you should’ve won man’.”
Booker T needed this win more than anything
The opportunity had sadly passed and all Booker could do was watch. He agreed to go along with the flow and accept the loss.
“And I say, ‘Man you know I’ve always been a team player. I’ve always been one of those guys to just go out and do my job and be a part of the team and I’ve never thought about it being about the title or anything like that,’” says Booker.
“I just wanted to perform and make you guys happy at the end of the day. And at the end of the day, you guys were not happy when I didn’t win at Wrestlemania 19 so I felt like I let you guys down in so many different ways you know, so many people like you come to me and say, ‘Man book, you should’ve won that night.’”

Booker T’s loss was one of the biggest upsets in WWE history. In that one match, instead of saving Booker T and making him one of the best Superstars, WWE decided to bury him by booking him to lose against Triple H.

Although Booker T may not look back in anger anymore, I’m sure there’s a fair share of his fans who feel otherwise.
