WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s return to WWE in 2020 was probably one of the biggest shockers of that year. After retiring from in-ring competition due to a grave neck injury in 2011, Edge got a second chance at his wrestling career. From 2020 to 2023, the Rated R Superstar contributed massively to the company. However, a new update regarding Edge has raised a cause for concern among the fans.
The 11-time World Champion is advertised for an upcoming SmackDown show in Toronto this August. As we all know, Toronto is also the hometown of Edge. During an untelevised segment last year in Toronto, the 49-year-old expressed his willingness to retire in his hometown in August 2023. While some fans are excited to see Edge make his return to his hometown, others are rather worried about his impending retirement.

Although retirement is a myth in wrestling, at this juncture in Edge’s storied career, he has nothing left to prove. After being drafted to the blue brand, the wrestling legend last competed on SmackDown on May 12 against Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles. But, does his upcoming presence on SmackDown in Toronto portend a final retirement from wrestling? Some fans certainly believe it does.

While some Edge-heads are disheartened about his supposed retirement, others are still holding out for hope.
Edge said he'll continue wrestling for a year at most so I still have hope. He was gonna be there either way since its Canada. I think we're good 🙏

Edge’s return to WWE after a long absence was, without a doubt, very fruitful. In 2021, the Hall of Famer stunned the WWE Universe after winning the Royal Rumble match. The same match also marked the return of his best friend, Christian.
Following his win, Edge faced then-Champion Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 37 in a triple-threat match. Fans witnessed a slobber-knocker of a match. However, Edge failed to capture the title as Reigns regained his throne with a little assist from the Usos.
Nevertheless, his peers speak highly of Edge’s talent and personality and the news of his retirement is sure to incite similar emotions.
