The Undertaker made his debut in Sports Entertainment 30 years ago at Survivor Series. It is kind of ironic that on his thirtieth anniversary with the company, ‘The Deadman‘ is finally hanging up his boots.

Life seems to come full circle for Mark Calaway this Sunday. Not only will it mark thirty years of his career, but the date of his debut and retirement is also the same. Although the rumors of retirement were around since Brock Lesnar broke his WrestleMania streak, the ‘Deadman’ has wrestled after that.

However, this time it is different, and Undertaker is ready for the next chapter in his life. Vince McMahon may have other plans, but for Undertaker, his glory days are over for good.

“You know, I have to deal not only with my thoughts and my conscience, but I also have to deal with Vince’s thoughts and his conscience,” Calaway said. “A lot of times, they’re not always on the same page. Vince’s line is, ‘You never say never.’ But where I’m at, I don’t see myself getting to a point where I’m going to be physically better in a couple of years than I am now,” Undertaker told CBS Sports.

Undertaker brought in the age factor and said, “I’m going to be a couple of years older and a couple of years slower. So yeah, I mean, I don’t see it. Not in the capacity where I’m going to get in the ring and actually work. Whether I have some sort of role, that’s a different thing, but my days in the ring, I think, are long gone now.”

The Undertaker reveals the real reason he is retiring

Thirty years in any sports is a huge achievement, especially in one like wrestling. The in-ring action takes not only a physical toll but also an emotional one. But The Undertaker is stopping only because of his health.

He revealed, “The only reason I’m calling it a day is simply because I don’t have the physical tools to do this at a level I want to do it. The passion is still there, and if I could, I would do this forever. But that’s not a reality, and that’s now how that works. You have your run and your time.”
