Over the years, the WWE superstar has faced many challenges, but his mother, Ata Johnson, has been a pillar. Through thick and thin, Ata Johnson holds on to his baby boy, Dwayne Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson recollected the incident when his mom, Ata Johnson, attempted suicide 30 years ago. The Rock was just a 15-year-old boy when they moved to Nashville, Tennessee, for a fresh start. On his Instagram post, The Rock remembered his parents got into a fight that has scarred him for life.

“My mom tried to check out when I was 15. She got outta the car on Interstate 65 in Nashville and walked into oncoming traffic. Big rigs and cars swerving outta the way not to hit her. I grabbed her and pulled her back on the gravel shoulder of the road,” The Rock mentioned.

It was indeed an emotional time for Dwayne Johnson as flashbacks hit him when his mother tried to kill herself when he was 15. The Rock saw his mom walking toward the traffic, but he got out of his car and saved her.

A scene spurred this memory of the WWE superstar while he was filming the HBO series, Ballers. In HBO’s Ballers series, his character’s brother, William, commits suicide.

The Rock is always grateful for his mom

‘The Great One’ of WWE reflected how many of us have been affected by the suicide of our friends and family. The wrestler-turned-actor didn’t enjoy filming the scene, but it was his duty to shed light on suicide and the struggle it brings.

Johnson added, “What’s crazy about that suicide attempt is to this day, she has no recollection of it whatsoever. Probably best she doesn’t.”

This was the most terrifying moment for a 15-year-old Dwayne Johnson that taught how precious life is. In addition, Johnson’s mother, Ata Johnson, does not have a memory of the incident and that she survived.
