John Cena didn’t just make a successful career in WWE but also created ample childhood memories for several fans. Some of those fans today are grown-ups and a few of them have risen to stardom. One of those fans is NBA player Tyrese Haliburton who recently shared his reaction to seeing Cena wrestle live.

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton recently shared being a follower of ‘Cenation’. Further, he went on to share the experience of witnessing his hero having a match 13 months before the Sacramento Kings traded him to Indiana Pacers.

Tyrese Haliburton recalls watching a John Cena match

The 23-year-old NBA star recently appeared on the Knuckleheads Podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. By the end of their conversation, the host brought up the topic of being a WWE fan and asked him how he keeps up with all the shows.

Haliburton, who has a lot of things going on in his life, said he doesn’t watch the entire show. However, he keeps a tab on the shows through social media. He recalled his experience of watching SummerSlam live in 2021.

He said, “But I actually after my rookie year after summer league they were doing SummerSlam at Allegiant Stadium in the Raiders stadium and I hit my people like ‘I gotta go, I gotta go. I always wanted to go to a big event. They come to Wisconsin, I go to RAW SmackDown or whatever, but I gotta go. They got me two tickets right behind the announcer’s table and John Cena was wrestling, that’s like all-time favorite wrestler.”

The Indiana Pacers star added, “So I took my pops. I went to SummerSlam, I sat behind the announcer’s table, and brought my dad because dad use to bring me all events growing up. That was like, all the moments in my life that is up there. I took the chair and had a great time.”

Richardson and Miles brought up being hardcore fans of the DX, The Rock, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. However, Haliburton who has witnessed several moments of ‘Super Cena’ stuck with his WWE hero. He shared more moments of WWE too in the interview.

Haliburton recalls meeting Triple H

The 23-year-old NBA star further recalled attending a SmackDown episode. There, he got an opportunity to go backstage and meet several WWE stars and legends.

He also got to meet Triple H backstage, who now looks after all the shows as Vince McMahon is no longer the creative head.

Haliburton was a part of the Sacramento Kings for nearly two years when he saw Cena at SummerSlam. In February 2022, he was traded to Indiana Pacers. He remains a Cena and WWE fan couldn’t hide his excitement about the same during the interview.
