In a recent interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Alicia Fox spoke about her time and departure from the WWE. “I was relieved, and still relieving completely,” she said when asked how she felt. After spending 17 years in the company, her contract expired in April 2023. Before this, they did not give Fox much air time. She talked about how the company only prioritized one thing: to be a champion.

“If you’re conditioned to just go, be perfect, be the champion. If that was my driving desire, that got to a point where I didn’t find my life interesting. It was bleak.,” she continued. This summed up Fox’s experience in the company. Fox joined WWE in 2006 and groomed herself in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). She was called up to the main roster in 2008 as a wedding planner under the SmackDown brand.

During her initial start on the main roster, she switched between a babyface and a heel while trying different gimmicks. She even moved to ECW to manage DJ Gabriel before returning to challenge for the WWE Divas Championship. Fox won the Diva’s Championship in June 2010 and held it for two months. She is the only African American Divas Champion.

Nevertheless, the decorated wrestler’s WWE career didn’t end on the best of terms as she recalled the time of her departure.

Fox’s time in the WWE and her final ‘Three-minute call’

While with the WWE, Fox shifted from SmackDown, Raw, and NXT. She had multiple gimmicks during this time, including her debut wedding planner, Noam Dar, the Survivor Series Team captain, and a Team Bella member. During all this, she felt underutilized by the company and could not reach her full potential.

Nearing the end of her contract, her air time was cut down. In 2022, her significant air time was a six-minute appearance in the women’s Royal Rumble match. This is often the sign of a wrestler about to get the axe. When the WWE higher-ups finally gave her a call, the call lasted just “three minutes,” according to Alicia Fox. She said she was grateful for all the opportunities the WWE gave her from 2006 to 2023.
