Damian Priest has been living his dominant era as the Money in the Bank briefcase holder – Señor Money in the Bank since July 1st of 2023. But he still couldn’t avail the privilege of challenging for any of the titles on display in the promotion’s three brands. But why has the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champion spent time languishing instead of capitalizing? The short and simple answer is he’s waiting to strike at the right opportunity at the right time.

Priest detailed his vision behind delaying his lucrative MITB Cash In during an interview with The West Sport.

Damian Priest came clean on his dilemma toward a Money in The Bank Cash-In

Explaining his limitations to cash in the briefcase, the Archer of Infamy noted, ”Well I mean obviously, I’m based on Raw, and being that Seth Rollins is the champion, unfortunately, he’s not medically cleared, so I can’t cash in right now because officially he can’t be in a match. So I kinda have to just wait until he’s cleared or you know, if I find myself on the other show, it’d be different, but that champion isn’t around all the time either. It’s one of those things about me biding my time. I still have until July 1st, And I have plenty of time, so I’m just, I don’t want to risk doing something I shouldn’t, you know.”

On the top, he’s eagle-eyed to his world championship goal. Staying firm and true to that dream keeps him waiting in the wings.

”In my head, I have to become World Champion, whether it’s on Raw or SmackDown. Either way, I have to become a major titleholder and I have to be extra careful about it. So I still have time and obviously, we got WrestleMania coming up, and that’s always a good time around that.”, Priest further reasoned.

While his thorough justification seemed fair enough, some questions still linger in our heads.

Does the current scenario substantiate Damian Priest’s explanation for not cashing in? 

It is convincing that Priest can’t ideally cash in because Rollins is injured and Roman Reigns doesn’t wrestle regularly. But he should still be very much able to take his shots at Gunther. Even a shot at Logan Paul’s US Championship could catapult The Judgment Day member’s momentum and would make sense. Another theory came up with Mark Henry proposing to put his briefcase on the line against none other than the Judgement leader Finn Balor.

Nevertheless, it’s understandable that Priest would want to challenge for the more prestige titles. However, we can only hope he didn’t screw his chance to capitalize on his momentum for good.
