Hulk Hogan is without a doubt a big part of pro wrestling’s history. He has been a part of the fraternity since 1979. He has a lot of stories to share with his fans after being here for such a long time. However, with increasing age, the credibility of his statements has always been a topic of discussion. Dutch Mantell is another WWE legend who shares stories of the pro wrestling world from the past.

On the latest episode of his podcast, Mantell aka Zeb Colter was discussing with his co-host a recent interview Hogan gave. When asked about the integrity of the story told by Hogan in the interview, Mantell appeared somewhat baffled. The story told by Hogan was about his experience at the Wembley Stadium in the late 80s or early 90s. It took Mantell some time to say only a little bit might be true from the interview. After further discussion, Mantell assumes that Hogan might have become a bit carried away during the interview due to his age.

Mantell said, Maybe but I, you know you talk to some guys And they’re not there they’re seriously not there anymore” implying the fact that The Hulkster’s increasing age might have taken a toll on his memory. He further said, “ I think Hulk I hope he is because I always liked him but see sometimes you have to accept people for what they present to you”, underlying the fact that Mantell hopes he got carried away and was not lying as he has massive respect for the veteran.

He further said, He’s Hulk so whatever he says yeah whatever, and just go with it”, subtly hinting that even though Hogan gets carried away, out of respect fans should understand and agree with him. He concluded by saying, “But if he’s trying to give this to a reporter that wants to fact-check the stuff then they could really embarrass him”, stating that he needs to get a hold of himself during interviews as he might end up embarrassing himself.

No one has ever questioned Hulk Hogan regarding the authenticity of his claims. However, it’s not the first time someone tried to analyze his bold claims.

Hogan and his bold claims

Hogan, along with his New World Order buddies, has made grand claims. From crashing matches to taking on multiple opponents single-handedly. It’s clear that someone as famous as Hulk Hogan should choose their words carefully. But sticking to the facts hasn’t always been his strong suit.

The co-creator of UFC, Campbell McLaren, called out Hogan for making false claims. Hogan said he had fought PRIDE fighters in the 70s. He had also made a claim that UFC had invited him to fight in their first PPV in 1993. McLaren quickly debunked these claims. A tweet from Bloody Elbow pointed out the simple facts: “Hulk Hogan claimed he fought PRIDE Fighters in the 70s, but PRIDE’s first event was in 1997, and UFC’s first PPV was in 1993.” McLaren also directly denied ever sending an offer to Hogan for UFC 1.
