The wrestling universe remembers Hulk Hogan as a massive babyface of the 80s in WWE and a top heel in WCW in the 90s. The Hulkster ruled the wrestling industry for many years by leg-dropping his opponents in the squared circle.

However, Hogan is a different man behind the curtain. Some time ago, The Immortal One shed light on his life from childhood and upbringing.

A few years ago, Hulk Hogan appeared in an interview with motivational speaker James Arthur Ray. In an almost 45-minute-long interview, Hogan shared many stories about his life. One of those was about the humble beginnings in his life.

Hogan said, “Well, almost everyone who knows Hulk Hogan is a one-dimensional wrestler, crazy screaming mustache, bald head hulking up. See, I don’t wanna ruin in the mystic, but there is a man behind the character and that’s Terry Bollea. I grew up in Tampa, Florida. My father was a construction worker, and my mother was a housewife.”

He added, “We were middle class, and we were very excited on Fridays as my dad would get the family a little minute steaks. So we were humble and we grew up with the baseball, the football and other stuff that the kids in Florida experienced.”

Clearly, as Hogan told, he had a common childhood like many other kids. Moreover, he also lived a humble life in Florida before entering the world of professional wrestling.

Hulk Hogan recalled how becoming religious changed his life

In the same interview, Hogan opened up about being overweight as a child and struggling with it. However, The Hulkster claimed he was into sports and played guitar. Also, Hogan recalled the time when things had changed for him.

Further, Hogan said, “But in this little bible study when I accepted Christ as my savior when I knew that Jesus has died on the cross to pay for my sins, it changed my whole perception of what was important and what wasn’t. From that point on, everything pretty much changed for me.”

The Hulkster also saw some bad days. However, he overcame his personal demons and made a great life for himself ahead.
