Hulk Hogan is by far one of the greatest pro wrestlers in the history of the industry. His dominance, ring presence, and physique were one of a kind.

Throughout the course of his career, Hogan has maintained utmost dominance over his opponents and created a legacy for himself that is almost impossible to compete against.

Such was his popularity. He was earning a seven-figure contract during his time in WCW. However, all good things must end, and in 1999, an incident ignited the end of WCW.

The Monday Night Ratings wars were one of the most talked about a moment in the entertainment business’ history. Both WWE and WCW were at war with each other during this time. However, in 1999, WWE finally took over, and it was due to one major incident.

After Kevin Nash had defeated Goldberg’s massive undefeated streak, Goldberg was arrested. And Hulk Hogan went on live television to announce his retirement.

However, on the very next WCW episode, Hogan was back and seen challenging Nash for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title.

However, as soon as the match began, Hogan would poke Nash, and Nash would fall down on the mat, leading to Hogan having an easy pinfall on him. This unfortunately marked the reunion of the nWo, with Scott Steiner, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash celebrating with Hulk Hogan.

While Goldberg would return to the ring to fend off the bad guys, he would be attacked the stable, and spray-painted on.

The nWo would later spray-paint the words ‘nWo’ on the belt. This infamous moment was not taken well by the fans, and the ring was soon filled with garbage and litter, and this slowly marked the downfall of WCW.

What Hulk Hogan had to say about the fingerpoke of doom?

It was one of the most controversial moments in pro wrestling history alongside the Montreal screwjob. However, when Hogan was asked about this, he blamed a lot of things and a clashing of egos behind this infamous moment and the downfall of the company.

He claimed that wrestlers no longer wanted to wrestle, and felt it was better to talk than to wrestle. He stated that he himself was influenced by people into letting that happen.

However, he would accept their fault. And claim that it all happened very fast. Hogan stated they were not much aware about the business and how to take care of it.
