Cody Rhodes kicked off WWE Raw: April 4th, 2022. He arrived in the ring as ‘The American Nightmare’ and cut an extremely emotionally heavy promo.

During the promo, he focused on his father, the late Dusty Rhodes. He showed a photograph of ‘The American Dream’ on the Titantron from Madison Square Garden in 1977. Dusty Rhodes was holding the WWE Championship, which other legends such as Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker got their hands on.

As soon as Cody Rhodes name-dropped Hogan, ‘The Hulkster’ started trending on social media. Not only because of Rhodes mentioning him, but also because of how the arena crowd reacted when he name-dropped Hogan.

It so happened that the second Cody Rhodes mentioned Hogan, the crowd booed. Several fans have reacted to the crowd’s reaction on social media. Even though most have expressed appreciation for the crowd, not everyone is happy with how the audience reacted.

Now, the crowd’s reaction was much more prominent because Rhodes name-dropped Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, and Triple H as well. During these moments, the crowd cheered! It was Hulk Hogan who was at the receiving end of the crowd’s negative reactions.

Cody Rhodes returned to WWE to fulfill his childhood dream

During his promo, The American Nightmare revealed he returned to WWE to fulfill a promise he made to himself as an eight-year-old.

As a young boy, he had asked his father about the championship. His father revealed that because he secured the win via count-out, the belt wasn’t his. At this point, Cody promised to someday win the title and put it in Dusty Rhodes’ hand.

Now, even though he can’t physically put the title in his hand, Cody Rhodes will look to fulfill that promise and win the belt. He’s on WWE Raw to challenge for the WWE Championship!

If he wants to fight for the title, he will have to cross paths with Roman Reigns.

‘The Tribal Chief’ became the WWE Champion and the WWE Universal Champion after defeating Brock Lesnar in the championship unification match at WrestleMania 38.
