Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon have worked together for a long time. The professional relationship between the two started when the latter had to take over the company after his father’s demise. From then on, the duo continued together for a good amount of time. During this while, they also faced several obstacles. However, Hogan stood with McMahon, as loyal as he could be in the situation.
Hogan’s faith in WWE’s former CEO was unshakeable. This allowed him to help McMahon, even in the most dire situations. In a recent interview, The Hulkster recalled the time he had to pay a high price so that Vince could be acquitted of legal consequences.

While talking to Theo Von on his podcast, Hollywood Hogan revealed details about the time he couldn’t enter NYC for five years. He started by telling the host the backstory of how in the 90s it was common for doctors to prescribe steroids to athletes. According to the WWE Hall of Famer, it was normal back then. However, even after they were banned, athletes continued using them.
In fact, the federal government accused Vince McMahon of selling and distributing these performance-enhancement substances to his talents. This led Vince McMahon to appeal for a court trial.
Hogan further claimed that when the government had the former CEO cornered, they approached him. “It’s got nothing to do with Vince. That’s what they were trying to paint him in the corner. It wasn’t true. And they tried to get me to testify otherwise. Which I said I would. And then when I got on the witness day, I told the truth and made a quick exit and didn’t go back to New York for five years,” recalled Hogan.
Even after the wrestling legend joined WCW, he wouldn’t come to New York for his matches because of this problem. In a situation where the government wanted him to become a public witness to frame Vince McMahon, he risked his freedom to stay loyal to McMahon.

Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon survived a lawsuit together
After Vince J. McMahon passed away in 1984, WWE had his son as their new head. A year later, Marvel Comics attacked the promotion owner for using the name of one of their characters, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, for a popular wrestler. They even accused them of stealing the character and making it Hogan’s gimmick. To avoid being charged with infringement, Hogan and WWE had to give a combined fine.

20 years later, after Hogan had reached his prime, Marvel sued the wrestling company for $35 Million regarding the same issue that had seemingly been settled years ago. Hogan stuck with McMahon throughout the case and in the end, Marvel Studios lost. The company then refused to pay the huge amount but allowed WWE to keep the name instead. McMahon wanted to buy the name for Hulk Hogan. However, he insisted on ‘taking care of it’ himself.
