Hulk Hogan recently turned 70. For the longest time in his career, he was the torchbearer of Vince McMahon’s company. Naturally, his body has been reacting to the years of damage it has suffered. Among the significant health challenges Hogan is currently facing, one revolves around his back. In a bid to treat his back issues, his doctor advised Hulk Hogan to seek out the opioid drug fentanyl. Little did he know, the drug was an enemy in disguise.

During a recent interview with The Joe Rogan Experience, Hulk Hogan revealed drugs like morphine had no effect on his back. As a result, the use of fentanyl arose as a solution. According to him, if he so much as moved his leg, he screamed like a “wounded animal” due to his body being torqued.

The former World Champion said, “They almost killed me with that stuff…. And I didn’t even know they gave it to me. But morphine and dilatas and none of that stuff worked on my back. I’d had so many surgeries. If I just moved, If I just, if I see I’m just barely moving my little finger, I just move my leg that much. I just scream like a wounded animal. Because everything was so torqued”

During his first course with fentanyl, Hogan made the mistake of cutting the patches in half and putting them on his legs. Luckily, he called his doctor, who immediately instructed him to get the patches off his leg, as that’s how people overdose on fentanyl.

The second time he took the drug was when he underwent shoulder surgery. And to alleviate his pain from the shoulder infection, he was on a drip line. Hogan also relayed that he kept telling his doctor that he felt his “light was going out”. However, the doctor insisted that Hogan complete his treatment.

Ultimately, Hogan fainted and ended up injuring his hips. Unbeknownst to him, the medical professionals were shooting up fentanyl in his arm. Upon waking up, he asked the personnel what medication was administered to him.
