Hulk Hogan Drops a Bombshell on Vince McMahon and “Rowdy” Roddy Piper’s Personal Relationship: “Vince Didn’t Trust Piper”

WWE is one of the largest wrestling promotions in the world. However, apart from a wrestling promotion, it is also a workplace. And you don’t always expect everyone to have the same relationship in a workplace. WWE legend Hulk Hogan recently revealed such an incident from during his days in WWE. Hogan sat down on Full Send Podcast and discussed several things such as WWE’s credibility, his character, and even the relationship between wrestlers and Vince McMahon. While speaking so, he revealed a major fact about a WWE Hall of Famer and Vince McMahon.

What personal relationship did Vince McMahon share with “Rowdy” Roddy Piper?

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper was one of the greatest in-ring talents of all time. He was a major inspiration behind Ronda Rousey’s WWE gimmick. However, despite being one of the biggest names in the industry, Vince McMahon never trusted him.

Hogan revealed that McMahon had trust issues with Piper, and never shared a warm relationship with him. The Hulkster revealed that Piper would often refrain from completing a job, or refuse to lose to anyone. He said the reason behind Macho Man being a multi-time Champion and Orndoff not being one,  was because of this reason.

Hogan revealed that there was one time Piper needed to lose to Hogan, but he refused from doing so. Hogan said, “Piper wouldn’t do a job. Orndorff wouldn’t do a job. The reason ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage was a champion so many times, he’d do business.”

The 69-year-old further said, “Yeah, but you know, Vince didn’t trust Piper or other guys who wouldn’t do a job.”  Piper believed that losing to Hogan would result in him losing away his heat and crowd-drawing power. His arrogance and refusal to lose matches would often lead to several opportunities flying away from him.

In the very same podcast, Hogan also spoke about WWE’s credibility. And how fans often call the show fake nowadays. He stated that fans call pro wrestling fake now, and the wrestlers nowadays don’t defend it anymore. Whereas, during their time, they would down the accusers.

Hogan said, ” “I mean we used to defend the business you know if someone said it was fake you’d punch them right in the mouth back in the 70s and 80s. But then you know with the commission and stuff, when Vince de-regulated wrestling, said it was an exhibition.” He would put the entire blame on McMahon for letting this happen. However, although WWE is not fake, it is certainly pre-determined.
