The two had may have had a conflict of interest at one point, but according to Eric Bischoff  ‘The Hulkster’ took Goldberg “under his wing” and still the four-time world champion bashed Hogan for his Australia Tour.

Bischoff didn’t expect these comments from Goldberg as he claims Hogan helped the former Universal Champion make “a lot of money”.

The recent edition of 83 Weeks was about Hulkamania Australian tour in 2009. While talking about it, Conrad Thompson recalled Goldberg taking a shot at Hogan ahead of the tour. However, Eric Bischoff shared his displeasure about those comments and told how The Hulkster has a big hand in Goldberg’s WCW career.

Bischoff said, “It was kind of like why we didn’t offer to bring Bill over. Nobody approached Bill. I remember reading that article. Why would you say that? I mean, Hulk Hogan was the reason that Bill Goldberg ended up making a lot of money. Hulk took Bill under his wing.

The 67-year-old added, “Hulk did a lot for Bill. And it just struck me as odd that Bill would say something like that. About all given it wasn’t horribly disparaging or anything but calling him an old man and suggesting he wanted to take all the money just seemed kind of out of place to me.”

Goldberg’s biggest match against Hogan came on the July 6, 1998, episode of Nitro. It was for Hogan’s WCW World Heavyweight Championship at Georgia Dome in Atlanta, which is Goldberg’s hometown. The 56-year-old defeated Hogan for the world title in front of 40,000 fans in his home arena. Notably, Hogan put Goldberg over in a clean fashion.

It surprised the former WCW top official when his co-host talked about Goldberg’s retirement tour. The former two-time Universal Champion is reportedly having a four-city retirement tour. However, Bischoff was surprised by it.

He said, “I was a bit out of touch man. I’ve been traveling, I haven’t been paying attention. So he wants to do a forced city retirement tour and promoted himself?…. Yeah, that’s ironic, isn’t it? (starts laughing).”
