The championship curse seems to have continued for Johnny Gargano. Last week on WWE NXT, Leon Ruff shocked the universe when he defeated Johnny Wrestling to capture the North American Championship.

However, this week on NXT, Gargano will get another chance to regain his title. He has invoked his rematch clause and will face Leon Ruff. WWE released the following statement regarding this match.
“Leon Ruff shocked the world and Johnny Gargano last week. Can he catch lightning in a bottle again and hold on to the NXT North American Championship? Ruff will defend his newly won title against Gargano tomorrow night on NXT.”
“Despite admittedly rigging his own “Wheel of Challengers” to determine his opponent, Johnny Wrestling was unable to end his championship curse as Ruff pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the black-and-gold brand. After pleading his case, Gargano gets his chance to regain the championship gold. Will he become a three-time champion, or does Ruff simply have Gargano’s number?”
Leon Ruff had the night of his life on WWE NXT
Last week on NXT, Johnny Gargano overcame his fear of wheels against Damian Priest at Halloween Havoc. He created his own “Spin The Wheel, Make The Deal” to for his first title defense. The man who ended up facing Gargano for the title was Leon Ruff. Unfortunately, the third time wasn’t a charm for Johnny Wrestling.

He lost his focus during his championship match thanks to some interference from Damien Priest. Ruff caught him by surprise and delivered the crucifix pin to pull off the upset.

Gargano will get another shot at his title this week on NXT. Based on last week, it is possible we can see another Priest interference which could start a new feud irrespective of the championship changing hands.
