Dwayne Jonhson’s ambitious project, Black Adam, may not have done the expected business, but that hasn’t stopped the DC movie from featuring in Google’s top 10 list of most searched movies in 2022. While Black Adam ranked second, netizens weren’t exactly happy about it.
Citing Deadline as a source, a tweet from the account Black Adam News read, “#BlackAdam was the second most searched movie in 2022 on Google! (via: DEADLINE).” While some users accused Dwayne Johnson of paying to hype up the news, others held different theories.

Were people trying to watch Black Adam illegally?
Out of the several reactions from Twitter users, some said that the searches went up as people looked up the film on the web browser hoping to watch it illegally.

Contrary to the fan reaction, a Deadline report termed Black Adam the “biggest movie of the season.”
“In a very dry fall marketplace without any tent poles due the post-production logjam created by Covid, Black Adam was the biggest movie of the season, notching No. 1 for three weeks in a row around the world before Disney/Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrived,” the report read.
Fans question Deadline’s credibility
Not just the WWE superstar, Twitter users were equally hostile towards news outlet Deadline. However, the outlet merely reported the fact. It was Google who made the trends public.
“How much is Dwayne paying u guys at deadline?” one user asked.

Another accused Deadline of doing damage control, since it “is owned by wb.”
deadline is owned by wb, they doing hard dmg control right now, im open to a sequel, especially since the rock wants to introduce more original dc heroes, but lets not lie, it was a flop. Make better movies next time

While many have trashed the film as a flop, the Hollywood megastar thinks otherwise.
Quoting a report, he tweeted that the film would make a profit between $52 million and $72 million.
“Waited to confirm with financiers before I shared this excellent #BlackAdam news – our film will PROFIT between $52M-$72M. Fact. At almost $400M worldwide, we are building our new franchise step by step (first Captain America did $370M) for the DC future,” the Brahma Bull tweeted.
