John Cena puts the “work” in workout

A little-known fact about John Cena is that the star holds a degree in exercise physiology. Cena enrolled in the program because of his love for pumping iron. He received his degree from Springfield College in Massachusetts in the year 1998. Having a background in exercise physiology, he has devised a program himself considering a ton of factors that he learned at the university. The Leader of the Cenation started training as a bodybuilder but now trains as an athlete.

Cena trains for four days a week, out of which he focuses on Olympic lifts for two days and on powerlifting moves. While powerlifting includes moves such as presses, pulls, and squats, Olympic lifting is a whole different thing. These movements are divided primarily into snatches and jerks. These movements help in building agility while simultaneously producing higher muscle power output by the athlete.

Along with weighing almost 250 pounds, the star stands at a stature of 185 centimeters. To power this absolute machine, John Cena needs to fuel his body, and he has got that covered as well.

How John Cena fuels his body

For all the work he puts in, he decides to fuel his body in the right way. Described by Mens Health magazine as “Heavy on protein and light on flavor”, the star eats 7 hearty meals every single day. In a day he consumes about 450 grams of carbs, 290 grams of proteins, 65 grams of fat, and a total of 3,600 calories. The diet is designed by himself to provide him with all the required nutrients after a gruesome workout. His day kicks off with eggs, cheese, bacon, and veggies, or a healthier oatmeal mix. He fuels up with protein bars or shakes in meal two.

Lunch means two chicken breasts, brown rice, and veggies. A snack: a pita with tuna. Then, more protein through bars and shakes. For dinner, pasta or rice, more veggies, and chicken or fish. Ending the day, it’s low-fat cottage cheese and a casein protein shake. Even though his dream of becoming a professional bodybuilder was not fulfilled, the star made sure to train in the best way possible for his performance at WWE.
