WWE fans are ready to witness the second PLE in November. Before Crown Jewel, Survivor Series 2023 was a mystery. Nobody knew the theme for this year’s annual PLE. However, at the PLE held in Riyadh two weekends ago, WWE revealed that ‘WarGames’ is officially on.

It would be useful to get to know about this match type better. WWE first introduced the WarGgames match in its developmental brand NXT in 2017. However, the Stamford-based company brought this concept to its main roster during the branding of the Survivor Series in 2022, ditching its old ‘brand supremacy’ theme. Although this year seemed to be going down the traditional Raw vs SmackDown road, Crown Jewel revealed that WWE will be sticking to WarGames instead.

For a WarGames match, there are two rings with one large cage encompassing them. This structure is pivotal for what happens in the match and also corresponds soundly to the rules.

There are usually two teams facing against one another, both of which are locked in two separate cages on the ramp. To start off the match, one member of each team is released inside the ring. There will be an ‘advantaged team’, the member of which will be released into the ring first after the first five minutes of the match. After a three-minute gap, alternating members from both teams are released into the ring until every participant is standing in the squared circle. This moment is also the ‘real’ commencement of the WarGames, which ends either by pinfall or submission.

Last year, The Bloodline alongside Sami Zayn faced Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch, Kevin Owens, and Drew McIntyre. The heel faction came out on top after Jey Uso delivered a winning splash. The women’s WarGames match was also entertaining as Bianca Belair’s team took on some of the top heels of the women’s division in WWE and won with a brutal finish to the match.

This year also promises to be an exciting WarGames for the fans and on RAW the men’s WarGames match is already going through some twists.
