A year ago, while promoting The Jungle Cruise, Dwayne Johnson, and Emily Blunt, appeared on USA Today. They shared how they filmed the underwater mouth-to-mouth scene, which looked romantic on-screen.
Blunt said, “I have to say when we watch the scene, it’s so beautiful in the movie. But on the day (of filming) we couldn’t even see each other. It’s very murky down there and so I could have been kissing anyone. (Points at DJ) It was probably one of your stunt doubles.”
Johnson jokingly said, “You were kissing my foot. My foot in mouth.”
In a climatic sequence of the movie, Blunt’s Lily Houghton, and Johnson’s Frank Wolff, have a task to dive from their boat to solve an underwater puzzle. This puzzle was more difficult than anticipated.
When they decided to go underwater, Lily gets trapped in the puzzle, fighting for air when both the characters use mouth to mouth technique to save each other. However, it took some clever thinking to force it open and drain the water so the pair can access a secret cave.
Blunt revealed about Dwayne Johnson not able to swim
While recalling the filming of the underwater scene, Emily Blunt revealed a secret about Dwayne Johnson. She stated Johnson cannot swim and gets drowned underwater like an actual rock.
Blunt said, “He sinks like a rock. He has no fat on his body, he doesn’t have an ounce of floaty fat on him. The man sinks like a rock, I had to like keep him up.”
Well, surely we can say, the British actress carried the WWE legend throughout the time while they filmed on water. However, this scene took two weeks in an underwater set on a studio lot in Atlanta.
