At this point in his career, Dwayne Johnson is a Hollywood megastar whose films consistently become blockbusters, grossing hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. His action-packed movies cemented his status as a Hollywood megastar. It’s interesting how closely he relates to one of his most famous movie characters, which nearly made $500 million.

San Andreas surpassed all other Warner Bros movies in 2015 in terms of box office revenue and ranked as the fourteenth highest-grossing movie globally. When promoting his movie, he claimed he was able to relate strongly with the character.

‘The Rock’ stated, “When I read the script, there were so many elements about the character that I thought, oh I know that guy. I know what that’s like. I know what it’s like to be divorced, I know what it’s like to struggle in relationships. And I know what it’s like to have a pretty good job and be pretty good at your job. But yet at the same time, you have these insecurities.”

“Am I doing the right thing for my daughter? Because it’s not like I have multiple kids. And I’ve done it a hundred times. I was a first-time dad and you want to always make the right decisions. I drew on the awesome relationship that I have today with my teenage daughter because there’s no greater bond than daddy-daughter.”

For those who haven’t seen the film, the wrestler turned actor in San Andreas portrays a divorced rescue helicopter pilot looking for his teenage daughter after a devastating earthquake strikes California. Also, DJ could identify with the character as he has been divorced and has a loving daughter of his own.

Notably, his San Andreas character was not the only one he related with.

Dwayne Johnson also relates to the Black Adam character

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is just around the corner and will be hitting the theaters on the 21st of October. Meanwhile, he claimed that he had a connection to a character other than Black Adam, much like San Andreas.

It is commonly known that The Rock values his family highly and has a deep sense of pride in his Samoan background. The same is true for the way his connection to his persona came through his family. He stated, “There are just natural elements, I think, in me, that are part of my DNA that we see in the character of Black Adam.” 

Additionally, it is well understood that, for an actor, it is crucial to feel a connection to the character. And San Andreas is evidence of that since he made a connection with a persona that was quite successful. And since he did feel the same this time, it’s safe to assume that it could end up being his biggest career hit.
