From the WWE to Hollywood, it takes a tremendous amount of skill, devotion, persistence, and hard work to rise to the top of one’s industry in any profession. And John Cena had invested all into starting a new career and had achieved success there as well.

Beginning his acting career in 2006 with The Marine and advancing to the Fast and Furious franchise, he has reached new heights. Interestingly, he succeeded in breaking Arnold Schwarzenegger’s illustrious Terminator record.

Schwarzenegger earned his fame in bodybuilding while pursuing acting as a second career, similar to how Cena did. But as soon as he got to Hollywood, he rose to the top, becoming a major action movie star. Similar to how The Champ, who comes from a pro wrestling background, managed to succeed commercially and even surpass the legendary Terminator’s record.

John Cena outshines Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator

The Terminator, which enabled Austrian Oak to establish himself in Hollywood, is highly remembered for helping him rise to popularity. Notably, the 1984 film The Terminator made $38 million in global box office revenue. In contrast, Cena smashed the film’s record not only once, but several times after failing for the first time.

Beginning his career with The Marine, which brought in $22 million, he wasn’t able to surpass Schwarzenegger’s record and was far from doing so. But after that, he had exceeded the iconic Terminator not just once, but many times. And the list is as follows:

Daddy’s Home (2015) – $242,786,137, Sisters (2015) – $105,011,053, Trainwreck (2015) – $140,795,793, Bumblebee (2018) – $467,989,645, Playing With Fire (2019) – $68,631,669,  Dolittle (2020) – $243,323,230, and Fast and Furious (2021) – $726M.

Whereas the Terminator only made $38M, John Cena produced a number of films that greatly outperformed Arnold Schwarzenegger’s films. It’s interesting to note that in terms of the highest-grossing movies in their career, Cena still managed to surpass the legend. For Arnie, Terminator 2 brought in $515 million, which is his biggest hit. On the other hand, Cena comfortably outshines Schwarzenegger with Fast and Furious 9, which made $726 million.

However, a lot of time has gone by since these years, and the movie’s box office earnings were from 1984 to 1991 when they were enormous sums. Therefore, it is impossible to accurately compare the numbers between then and now. However, Cena did surpass the Terminator star in terms of numbers.
