Recently, Johnson shared his memories through Instagram with a clip of his 2002 SummerSlam Undisputed Championship match.
The Rock and Brock Lesnar came face to face for one last time. Dwayne Johnson’s contract with WWE was over at that time and he decided to pursue his acting career rather than extending it.

In his latest Instagram post, The Great One shared the historic moment with a modest and interesting (as always) caption. Also, he complimented Brock Lesnar saying that he had a great chemistry with the former UFC Champion and called him “one of the greatest pure athletes he has ever danced with”.

Dwayne Johnson praised The Beast for his athletic abilities and his showmanship, although Johnson lost his title in this match. It resulted in Lesnar being the new WWE Undisputed Champion. The Rock also shared the reason behind his defeat in the match.

Dwayne Johnson’s quiet exit from the WWE
After losing to The Beast Incarnate, Johnson began his acting career and made a huge name for himself. The fans already knew at that time that The People’s champion will be leaving WWE. The Rock stated the fact how incredible it is that his wrestling career was only 6 years long.
In his Instagram post, DJ listed out the two reasons for this SummerSlam match being iconic. He explained that it was him ‘doing the honors‘ of making Lesnar the new face of WWE and he wanted to leave gratefully as his contract with the company was up.

It’s remarkable that The Rock had affected the pro wrestling world in such a brief span of time. Johnson left WWE after that match and only returned as a part-time wrestler in 2011. The new Undisputed Champion Lesnar also left WWE after completing his contract for the UFC. But The Beast did return to the WWE in 2012.
