Sami Zayn was ridiculously outnumbered in the Elimination Chamber match. Hence, he tried to coerce his long-time best friend, Kevin Owens, into helping him.
Sami was already disappointed when the referee ejected his camera crew from ringside. When things didn’t go in his favor, he started losing it. As they both witnessed the wreckage, Zayn made a proposal.
He proclaimed how no one wanted the two of them there. Zayn wanted them back as a team like old times, and said, “Let’s do this together! Like old times, me and you.” Unfortunately, Owens had clearly moved on from the old days and slammed Zayn into the pods.

Later, Zayn missed a helluva kick as Owens nailed him with a stunner. Kevin Owens then pinned Zayn to eliminate him. Apart from this, Zayn had a few hilarious moments in the match.
He climbed up the Chamber pods, demanded the other opponents to stay away from his pod, and gave hilarious in-match commentary.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn go back to their indie days
Zayn and Owens started teaming up in their Ring of Honor or Indie days in general. Back then, Zayn and Owens fought under the names El Generico and Kevin Steen, respectively.
Although they never won any tag team titles in WWE, they have won multiple titles in the indie promotions. Recently, Owens looked back at his indie days with a throwback. Owens and Zayn had a match which the latter hated.
“Oh, man! Generico (Zayn) hated that match. Not only did I beat the hell out of him, but I also kept throwing zingers out and making the crowd laugh.” tweeted Owens. “He later said it felt like he was being attacked by an evil stand-up comedian. Oddly enough, I remember loving every second of the match!”

Oh man!

As Zayn is already portraying the gimmick of a conspiracy theorist, it is highly likely he will deem Owens’ “betrayal” as another WWE conspiracy. He might also start feuding with Owens on SmackDown.
