Just over a month ago, WWE announced that Vince McMahon retired from his role as CEO of the company. This didn’t sit well with Brock Lesnar who has a close relationship with McMahon.
It was widely reported that Lesnar, due to appear on SmackDown that night, left the arena after hearing this news only to return later during the show. New WWE Head of Creative, Triple H, recently gave an insight on what transpired that night.

The events of that night truly left the wrestling world scratching their heads. Many speculated that Lesnar didn’t want to work for WWE now that McMahon was gone.
However, not only he returned to SmackDown but literally tore the house down with Roman Reigns at SummerSlam the next night.
‘The Game’ recently revealed the details about the turn of events of that night and how Lesnar was convinced to return.
Lesnar was upset over McMahon’s retirement
Triple H sat down for an interview with BT Sport, ahead of Clash at the Castle and spoke about the situation with Lesnar on the night Vince McMahon retired.
The host asked him whether Lesnar being upset over McMahon’s retirement and leaving the arena was true.
Triple H replied, “There’s some truth to it, yea. You have to understand Brock’s relationship with Vince. […] Vince is the devil he knows. Brock is inherently not a trusting person, he doesn’t like people. He’s not a trusting person. I think in that moment when you just hear Vince is out.’ And now what’s gonna happen? I’m out of here.”
‘The Cerebral Assassin’ also shed light on what led to ‘The Beast’ coming back that night.
He continued, “He’s had a moment to digest it, he digested it a little bit and came back to the building, we did business that night. We had long conversations about where we would go next, he liked what he heard, liked how he had been dealt with so it’s all good.”
Triple H further said that he enjoys a great relationship with ‘The Conqueror’ despite some professional rivalry when both were active talents on the roster.
Brock Lesnar sees McMahon as a father figure
Lesnar is a very private person and has actual friendship in pro wrestling with only a handful of people. One of these people is McMahon whom he sees as a father figure.
In fact, recently the former 7-time WWE Champion, attended McMahon’s 77th birthday party. McMahon shares a close bond with Lesnar and there is a level of mutual respect between the two.

Now with a new regime in charge, it will be interesting to see what is next for Lesnar in WWE. He remains a box office draw and will bring excitement to the table whenever he returns.
