One of the murkiest and most confusing incidents in pro wrestling history took place in 2000 at WCW’s Bash at the Beach pay-per-view event. The three primary individuals involved in this saga were Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, and Vince Russo. A new Dark Side of The Ring documentary revisited the episode recently. Following the release, Eric Bischoff has come down hard at Vince Russo for his comments in the documentary about WWE icon Hulk Hogan.

Bischoff and Russo’s relationship was fractured after the said pay-per-view. The new documentary stirred the pot.

Just to refresh your memory, here’s a gist of what happened at Bash at the Beach. The PPV emanated from Ocean Center in Florida on July 9, 2000. Hogan faced Jeff Jarrett for the latter’s WCW World Heavyweight Championship. While The Immortal One won the bout after Jarett laid down for him. Jarrett appeared in another bout with Booker T for the same belt. You might be as confused as the crowds were that night and forever.

The exact details have never emerged as different people have stated different versions of what had actually happened behind the scenes. But what unfolded in front of the spectators was this: After Hogan won the match and left, Russo came out and cut a shoot promo. He castigated Hogan and said it was good riddance, setting up the match between Booker T and Jarrett.

According to Russo this was all part of a plan according to the writer and Hogan knew about it, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer apparently didn’t know. He later filed a case against WCW for slandering his legacy and career. Overall, it left a bitter taste in the mouth of those involved, especially Bischoff, who’s still not forgiven the writer.

Accessing Russo’s role in the documentary, Bischoff said, “He exposed himself right off the bat by coming out and saying, ‘I told Hulk Hogan there’s no way he’s coming out of here with the WCW championship.’ By the way, Vince Russo is the least confrontational pu**y, that’s a man, I’ve ever met in my life.”

“There is no way Vince Russo said anything of the sort to Hulk Hogan. He does not have the balls despite his New York, hardcore bulls**t. He is a pu**y… He has no spine whatsoever,” Bischoff said on his 83 Weeks podcast.

Eric Bischoff calls Vince Russo an obnoxious human being

Bischoff wasn’t done with his take on Russo. He termed the writer “one of the most obnoxious human beings”. Bischoff said he had a tough time watching the documentary because of Russo.

“If there’s anything that I would describe as a delusional pathological liar, it would be Vince Russo,” he said.

This is not a surprise given how Bischoff has been critical of anyone who has said anything negative about Hulk Hogan. The former on-screen General Manager of WWE RAW tore into CM Punk after the latter cut a promo mocking Hulk Hogan.

Since then, Bischoff has taken every opportunity to hit out at Punk, including berating AEW and Tony Khan for bringing back the wrestler to their promotion to launch Collision, the company’s third weekly show.
