On the March 26, 2021, edition of SmackDown, Adam Pearce officially announced that Edge, Roman Reigns, and Daniel Bryan would have to lock horns in a Triple Threat match at WrestleMania. The match, which was originally supposed to feature only ‘The Rated-R Superstar’ and ‘The Tribal Chief’ for the WWE Universal Title, will now see Daniel Bryan as well.

Roman Reigns’ Previous Encounter With Daniel Bryan
When Edge thrashed both Reigns and Bryan on SmackDown, it wasn’t the first time he did that. A previous encounter between the three men was at Fastlane 2021 where Reigns was defending his Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan with Edge being the special ringside enforcer.
In the final moments of the match, Bryan put the champion in a ‘Yes Lock’. It looked as if ‘The Tribal Chief’ would have tapped out to Bryan had it not been for the interference of ‘The Ultimate Opportunist’. This was when Edge used the steel chairs on both the wrestlers, which resulted in the nullification of the title match.
What Is WWE Planning For Daniel Bryan?
At Fastlane 2021, one could clearly see that WWE put Bryan in this situation specifically so that it could lead up to a triple threat match at WrestleMania.
He is one of the most beloved people in professional wrestling history. So whenever anything goes against him or makes him look weak, one can expect him to get his comeuppance or get his revenge at some point. When Edge cost Bryan his title by using the steel chair, it instantly made Edge the heel and Bryan the face in this feud.
Will Daniel Bryan Win The Universal Championship At WrestleMania?
Daniel Bryan is 39 years old, which means that this could be his final push to glory before he exits from the wrestling world to spend time with his family. WWE, knowing this, might have given Bryan what he wants as a final thank you for the years of altruistic servitude for the company. The same cannot be said for Edge as he has already reached the peak of his wrestling career when he was a full-time wrestler.
Bryan has a legitimate gripe against Roman Reigns as he won the extremely grueling Elimination Chamber match. However, he was robbed of his opportunity to win the title as The Tribal Chief defeated an already exhausted Daniel Bryan soon after.
The same can be said about Fastlane. At the penultimate “Road to WrestleMania” pay-per-view, Edge was the one who robbed Daniel Bryan of his opportunity.
Because of the way his previous matches ended, Bryan absolutely deserves a spot in the main event of WrestleMania 37, and WWE has done justice by booking him in the Triple Threat match.
Daniel Bryan absolutely deserves the success he has, as his consistency in the ring and on the microphone warrants another main event at WrestleMania, but whether that culminates in becoming Universal Champion is something we have to wait to find out.
The Triple Threat match might have ruined the moods of ‘The Tribal Chief’ and ‘The Rater-R Superstar’, but it surely did a world of good for Bryan’s morale. Only time will tell who will emerge victorious with the prestigious WWE Universal Title on the line.
