When CM Punk entered at number 27 at the Rumble, fans were hoping that this would be the big moment that he and all his faithful supporters had been waiting for. But very soon, that dream faded to dust.

At one point in the match, Punk had a scuffle with Drew McIntyre, who hit the Second City Saint with a vicious DDT. Reports suggest that this emerged as the pivotal moment where Punk suffered a torn tricep injury that had unfortunate consequences.

A torn tricep usually can keep an athlete out for a long time, but reports suggest he will be out for four to six months. This means that WrestleMania 40 is definitely out of the question for the Second City Saint. Punk himself confirmed this on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw as he addressed the WWE Universe and elaborated on the injury. “WrestleMania 40 I guess it’s not in the cards for me, but I am a Chicago Cubs fan and this isn’t the first time and it won’t be the last time I say this, there’s always next year,” he said.

Drew McIntyre then targeted Punk to rub salt into his wounds. The interaction between the two suggested that the former AEW Champion could be facing the Scottish Warrior in his first match once he finally makes a return.

All in all, it’s an unfortunate situation for all involved, and with Seth Rollins already on the shelf, it’s yet another headache for WWE officials to address ahead of their biggest show of the year.
