The former WWE Champion, Big E, broke his neck in a match between The New Day and Sheamus and Ridge Holland on an episode of SmackDown in March 2022. The match saw Holland delivering an overhead belly-to-belly suplex to Big E at the ringside, resulting in the former champion’s landing on the top of his head. He was later placed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital.

On social media, Big E stated that he had suffered a broken neck, with fractures to his C1 vertebrae and C6 vertebrae, but no ligament or spinal cord injury. Big E also said that he would not require surgery for his injury, and thanked people for their concern.

However, Big E provided a worrisome update recently regarding the healing of his neck injury. He shared a tweet regarding this saying, “For those desirous of an update, my C1 apparently isn’t healing optimally. I’ll spend another 4-6 weeks in a brace in hopes that I can avoid a fusion. But don’t you fret! I’ve got a tremendous support system & what shall be shall be.”

It seems the treatment of Big E will be ongoing for much longer than expected. Even though he might not be needing the surgery, the healing is happening at a low pace.

These are tough times for Big E, still, the most positive man in WWE is firm on getting back in the ring. He is spreading positiveness in his tweet too, saying he has tremendous support and he is ready to accept the outcome of his injury in the end.

Matt said, “Rarely do I tell strangers that I love them, but maybe I should. I love ya, Big E. Your heart is one to marvel at. My wife & I are expecting are first child together in early September, while his name won’t be Ettore, it’s Easton, he will be referred to as Big E. Best wishes.”

Big E is one of the most beloved members of the WWE roster, so everyone around the world is hoping that he’s able to make a full recovery and mix it up with his stablemates again before too long.
